Exhibition "Lojze Vodovnik" at the Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra

On 28 May 2024, the Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra opened the temporary exhibition Lojze Vodovnik, marking the 90th anniversary of the birth of Academician Prof. Dr. Lojze Vodovnik. The exhibition was organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU), and was on display until 31 December 2024.

The Laboratory of Biocybernetics at FE UL contributed to the exhibition as the academic environment in which Vodovnik's scientific and pedagogical legacy continues. Prof. Dr. Lojze Vodovnik was one of the key founders of Slovenian biocybernetics, biomedical engineering and rehabilitation engineering. His work bridged electrical engineering, medicine, biology, physiotherapy and improving patient quality of life.

The exhibition presented Vodovnik's scientific achievements, inventions and broader impact. It made an important contribution to the public presentation of biomedical engineering in Slovenia and to preserving the memory of the research tradition from which our laboratory originates.

This exhibition also connects to the earlier exhibition "S tehniko do zdravja" (Technology for Health) — the contribution of Slovenian scientists to the development of medicine, which was on display at the Technical Museum of Slovenia in Bistra from 2013 to 2014. That exhibition was organized with the participation of the Slovenian Society for Medical and Biological Engineering in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, with a significant contribution by Prof. Dr. Stanislav Reberšek.
